[Nettime-ro] De Appel invites: THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW |
Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2006 10:21:29 +0100 Subject: De Appel invites: THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW From: De Appel <press@deappel.nl> To: De Appel <press@deappel.nl> 31 March - 1 April 2006 THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW DE APPEL Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 10, 1017 DE Amsterdam UPDATE INFORMATION www.deappel.nl For the duration of one weekend De Appel is Janus-faced: looking back to past achievements and looking forward to unrealized possibilities. Theo Tegelaers, interim director of De Appel and Ann Demeester, newly appointed director compiled a programme that connects 'then', 'now' and the yet undefined 'later'. With a polyphonic talk show including a large number of guests and hosts the history of De Appel is turned into a palpable experience rather than a series of written documents and photographs. A presentation by academic Marga van Mechelen and a lecture by French curator Guillaume Désanges shed a new light on the origins of De Appel as a performance-based space set up by Wies Smals in 1975. The production 'Show Dance' by Swiss-Greek choreographer Alexandra Bachzetsis explores the shadowland between conceptual dance, visual arts performance and hints at the future collaboration between De Appel and the festival 'If I Can't Dance' in Autumn 2006. Friday 31 March SHOW DANCE 20:00 A celebratory piece involving fourteen performers investigating the polarities intimacy and remoteness, serious seduction and playful irony, the (female) presence on stage and the gaze of the spectator Performed by Danai Anesiadou, Daphni Antoniou, Vela Arbutina, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Ann Demeester, Helga Duchamps, Annemie Goegebuer, Otobong Nkanga, Barbara Raes, Elsmieke Scholte, Anat Stainberg, Lies Vanborm, Elke Vanlerberghe, Gosie Vervloessem Champagne Michael Bussaer, Michel Quéré Concept and choreography Alexandra Bachzetsis Reservation is obligatory (limited amount of seats) Tickets 10 euro Saturday 1 April TALK SHOW 12:00 - 19:00 A cast of Dutch and international artists who have been involved with De Appel in the past 21 years recall memories and experiences, live or through use of other communication channels Guests Marina Abramovic, Ghada Amer, Mark Bain, Judith Barry, Christiaan Bastiaans, James Beckett, Waldo Bien, Barbara Bloom, Guillaume Bijl, Miguel-Angel Cárdenas, Castro/Olafsson, Thomas Demand, Meschac Gaba, General Idea, De Geuzen, Irene Fortuyn, Sigudur Gudmundsson, Hans van Houwelingen, Nan Hoover, Madelon Hooykaas, Christian Jankowski, Joan Jonas, Niek Kemps, Mark Manders, Komar/Melamid, Matthieu Laurette, Charlemagne Palestine, Hermann Pitz, Keiko Sato, Roman Signer, Uwe Laysiepen, Nikolaus Urban, Lawrence Weiner, Peter Zegveld Hosts Otto Berchem, Danila Cahen, Ritsaert ten Cate, Anton de Goede, Jeroen Jongeleen, Rita Kersting, Gabriel Lester, Barbara Visser, Alex de Vries Special features Marga van Mechelen offers an exclusive preview of her future publication in which she investigates the 'early days' of De Appel CTP students (2005 -2006) re-investigate the contributions of Johan Cornelissen and Laurie Anderson CTP students (2004-2005) present the catalogue which functions as the residue of their collective project 'Radiodays' A SHORT HISTORY OF PERFORMANCE IN 20 MINUTES 19:00 Free-lance curator Guillaume Désanges and actor Frédéric Cherboeuf present an ultra condensed and animated synopsis of the development of the medium performance from the late sixties till nowadays SHOW DANCE 20:00 Reservation is obligatory (limited amount of seats) Tickets 10 euro AFTER PARTY 22:00 - 01:00 All events are free of charge expect for 'Show Dance' -- _______________________________________________ Search for businesses by name, location, or phone number. -Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC=lycos10 _______________________________________________ Nettime-ro mailing list Nettime-ro@nettime.org http://www.nettime.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nettime-ro --> arhiva: http://amsterdam.nettime.org/
