[from "The Cyber Scene"-- "Shakers + Stirrers", June 1, 2001 www.thecyberscene.com]: "Duchamp Exhibition Welcomes New Media Types" http://www.nyartsmagazine.com/duchamp "Web artists are going mainstream. The Duchamp Exhibition at the Venice Biennial, running from June 9 to July 14, will welcome several artists who work in new media. They include Mark Amerika, Ken Goldberg, Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky) and Mark Tribe. The exhibition, curated by Cristine Wang, is a traveling show that will stop at a number of cities. Referred to as "Re: Duchamp," the show has already been exhibited in New York City and in various cities in Germany, Poland, Chile and Israel. The "Re:Duchamp Travelling Exhibition" forms part of the "Markers" project, that involves well-know cultural foundations that operate in Venice, such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and Biennale Arti Visive, besides the Municipality of Venice itself. It is sponsored by NY ARTS magazine, and will feature the most recent works of Abraham Lubelski and incorporate the work of over 250 other artists. The installation is an assemblage of clotheslines from which are hung all the artwork for viewing at one time. These shows become a Duchampian metaphor of the contemporary art world." exhibition online at: http://www.nyartsmagazine.com/duchamp ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
