<nettime> Need a 101 on Meme coins (& their backers), read Matt Shea's

Hola Aloha,

For once, I am not going to c+p the Guardian article, because I find the whole subject very lateral to nettime. Yet if you eed a refresher on what Meme Coins and assorted crypto-scams (with a purpose) are about, then Matt Shea provides a brilliant one (immo):

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/may/30/is-memecoin-scam-crypto-trump

Is every memecoin a scam?
According to David Gerard, the author of Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain: “Basically, literally, yes.”

(...) the [only] one memecoin to offer a tangible benefit in the real world, is the one sold by the president [Trump]. (...) Unlike other memecoins, it offered something concrete: access to the president.

The times, they're getting beyond surreal ...

Enjoy your week-end all the same, p+7D!
