Wednesday 10 th June 2009 *The crisis of Global University* On Thursday, June 11th at 2 p.m. in Room 2, at the Faculty of Humanities of La Sapienza University, there will be a transnational meeting titled ?Global University: Labour, Struggles and the Common within the Crisis?, organized by Lettere in Onda, Edu-factory collective and Queen Mary University of London. The speakers of this meeting will be Andrew Ross (New York University), Morgan Adamson (University of Minnesota), Christofer Newfield (University of California - Santa Barbara), Pedro Barbosa Mendes (Uninomada- Brazil), Stefano Harney (Queen Mary University of London). Also *Dillip Kumar Dash*, student of Hyderbrad University (India) and protagonist of contemporary conflicts in the universities of South Asia, should have been taking part at this meeting as international speaker. Unfortunately, we heard from Dillip that the italian Embassy of New Delhi denied his visa, without reason, blocking the possibility of his participation in the meeting that will take place tomorrow in Rome. Global University is a field of conflict, where the mobility of researchers, professors and students must be a right and cannot be the new measure of exploitation acted at the global level. For us, Global University means to put in crisis its hierarchies and differentiations: freedom of movement, free circulation of ideas and bodies that live the university and build it every day. We denounce this dire act from italian authorities, that confirms again Italy as an inhospitable country, which practices a generalized attack on the free and open exchange of ideas and the freedom of movement. *Sapienza on the Wave * --------------------------------------------- Mercoled? 10 giugno 2009 *La crisi dell?Universit? Labour, Struggles and the Common within the Crisis?, organizzato da Lettere in Onda, edu-factory collective e Queen Mary University of London. * Sapienza in Onda * # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: http://mail.kein.org/mailman/listinfo/nettime-l # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@kein.org
