<nettime-ann> [event] Playing with your shadow: NONOTAK's 'Horizon'

.
TETEM art space (Enschede, NL) presents a first introduction to NONOTAK's latest audio-visual project. Exhibiting until February 2, 2015, illustrator Noemi Schipfer and architect/musician Takami Nakamoto pool together their repertoires, delivering a unique brand of the immersive and ethereal with their latest installation, HORIZON.

The Paris based duo takes advantage of the negative space which darkness creates by treating it as a blank canvas, resulting in the reconstruction of a compelling new environment. 64 LED bars play with TETEM's medialab room to immerse viewers in a new dimension of sound, space and kinetic light. These elements are tied together by incorporating shadows as an essential component of the installation, which develops the system into a work that can only truly be experienced in the flesh.

NONOTAK studio is the collaboration between the illustrator Noemi Schipfer and the architect musician Takami Nakamoto. Commissioned by the Architect Bigoni-Mortemard to create a mural in the lobby of a public housing building in Paris, NONOTAK was created in late 2011. In early 2013, they have started to work with light and sound installations, creating ethereal, immersive and dreamlike environments meant to envelope the viewer, capitalizing on Takami Nakamoto's approach of space & sound and Noemi Schipfer's experience in kinetic visual. They presented their first audiovisual installation at the Mapping Festival in may 2013. Schipfer and Nakamoto have exhibited their audio-visual installations on an international stage at Mapping Festival (Geneva), EM15 ELEKTRA / MUTEK (Montreal), la Nuit Blanche (Paris), Roppongi Art Night (Tokyo), Axcess Art Gallery (New York) Stereolux (Nantes), Playgrounds Festival (Tilburg), Mirage Festival (Lyon), Vision'R, Insanitus Festival (Lithuania), FUZ Festival (Paris), Lunch Meat Festival (Praha), KIKK Festival (Belgium), Nokia Lumia by (Istanbul) TodaysArt (The Hague), Athens Video Art Festival (Athens), BAM Festivak (LiÃge), Mutek Co.
